Is it still okay for high schoolers to go trick-or-treating? We surveyed over 200 students and found out the following.
Thirty-seven percent of high schoolers said yes, they plan to trick-or-treat this year, while 63% answered no. For a more detailed breakdown, 60% of freshmen plan to go trick-or-treating, 34% of sophomores, 28% of juniors, and 33% of seniors. It looks like the juniors are the biggest party poopers.
For those planning to trick-or-treat, we asked, “What do you plan to dress up as?” One junior said they were going as “a carrot to attract all the snowbunnies” (?). A sophomore is going as Witch Minnie Mouse. A senior is going to dress up as Disney princess Aurora while her friend is Rapunzel. A freshman and her friends are dressing up as Charlotte’s Web characters. Also on the list of costumes–a McDonald’s worker, an Oompa Loompa, Jay from Ninjago, and 6’7″ (not sure how that one’s going to work).
Students were then asked to name their favorite Halloween costume in the past. One student, a freshman, dressed up as a cookie, while their younger sibling was the baker. Another freshman dressed up as a ventriloquist dummy. A sophomore dressed up as Dorthy from The Wizard of Oz. One Junior dressed up as a Sharknado. They were inside a tomato cage with grey fabric surrounding it, and miniature plush sharks attached to it. A senior dressed up as Hei Hei the chicken from Moana. Another senior and their siblings dressed up as Power Rangers. Apparently, someone once dressed up as a Skibidi Toilet.
As for me, my favorite costume was a fluffy leopard costume when I was in middle school. They were my favorite animals back then. This year, however, I plan to stay home and watch a scary Halloween movie. However you plan to celebrate, be safe, be smart, and don’t eat too much candy.
