Wyatt Czapar, a senior at EPGHS, has spent his high school years staying active and involved in a variety of sports. While he has a few different hobbies, his favorite by far is golfing with his friends. He’s been a part of the golf team since freshman year and has been on varsity all four years. He also competes on the track team, showing his dedication to athletics year-round.
Outside of school, Wyatt plays hockey for the Bloomington Thunder, something he’s been passionate about since he was very young. “I started hockey when I was 2 or 3 years old, so it’s been a big part of my whole life,” he explained.
Wyatt loves how action-packed and challenging hockey is. “It’s a high-paced game that’s hard for anyone to play,” he stated. He usually plays goalie for his team. “I’ve taken a few pucks to the facemask and seen stars afterward, but it’s all good.” Looking ahead, Wyatt plans to continue playing after high school. “I plan to play junior hockey and pursue a hockey career, then become a financial advisor after.” His advice to anyone interested in trying hockey? “Don’t be scared, stay focused, and work harder than everyone else.”
When asked about his favorite memory from high school, Wyatt said, “My sophomore year golf season.” As for the highlight of his senior year, he didn’t hesitate to mention Mr Martin’s name. Mr. Martin creates such a fun environment in his class that it easily makes it his current favorite. Outside of school, Wyatt works at Grove Street Bakery in downtown Bloomington.
Wyatt has had many things that inspire him, but he singled out achieving his goals as something that keeps him going: “My future dreams for myself inspire me most because the thought of not doing what I’d like scares me enough to work harder.”
It’s clear that Wyatt is driven by a strong sense of purpose and a vision for his future. As a senior looking back on the past four years, Wyatt knows how important it is to make the most of your time. For juniors, he offered this advice: “Care about the year at least a little bit.” If you see Wyatt in the halls, be sure to wish him good puck, I mean luck, on his future endeavors.
