Ethan Krugger, also known as ‘Coug’ to friends and peers, is a senior at EPG this year.
His favorite high school memory was during wrestling season last year at Abe’s Rumble, when he, Parker Key, and Nolan Whitman got stuck in an elevator. The three of them jumped in the elevator until it broke. Ethan has been a part of wrestling and track & field for three years, and has played football for two years during his freshman and sophomore years. Krugger said, “Sports can create friendships and bring friendships closer.”
The one year Ethan said he would redo would be his junior year, since the majority of the time he worked and hung out with his friends. Krugger works for the city of El Paso and at the grain bins. His favorite memory while working for the town was when he, Carter Bergquist, and Owen Adams drove around in a Can-Am drifting, and he flew off of it onto the gravel.
During the school year, Ethan looks forward to football and basketball games. Krugger encourages lower-classmen to attend those activities, and said, “They bring EPG morale and friendships when you’re in the stands cheering on the team.”
An important lesson Ethan learned throughout high school was to work hard in his classes and to make friends with as many people as possible. He claims, “It’s good to have connections in high school because you might need them later on in the future for a job, or even just to have good friends after high school.” Ethan’s favorite teacher has been Mr. Crump: “He’s a pretty cool guy to talk to.” Mr. Crump got him interested in golf.
Krugger doesn’t plan on attending college for several reasons. He said, “I’m not a big fan of school work, and if I don’t go to college, I’d be debt-free from student debt.”
Ethan instead plans on going to the Air Force. Once he’s out of the military, he plans on becoming a firefighter and paramedic. He didn’t know his career path until the end of his sophomore year. Ethan believes that it’ll be fun to go into the military because he’ll be able to choose what occupation he wants, and he can get many benefits from it. Once Ethan becomes an emergency responder, he looks forward to helping the community.
