Jayvion Maxon catches a pass over a Reed-Custer defender.
It’s that time of year again! It’s getting cooler outside, school’s starting back up, and fall sports are in full swing. Titan fans are anxious to see whether the EPG football team will have its fifth consecutive playoff-bound season.
We spoke to Coach Benedict, the Titans’ Head Football Coach, before the season kicked off. Coach stated he was very excited for this season and getting to play new teams. He believes we will have a great year. According to coach, one of the team’s biggest strengths is their athleticism and speed at the skill positions. We also questioned him on the departure of the entire 2024 offensive line and how they will recover from that loss. He commented, “Our O-line is very young, but that doesn’t change the fact that they have improved drastically in a very short amount of time and are looking great.”
We also interviewed Owen Adams (Junior QB), Jayvion Maxon (Junior WR/DB), and Owen Bergquist (Senior WR/S/K), and it was very apparent that this team agrees on three things. They believe they can win the HOIC, make a run in the playoffs, and their “incredibly deep” wide receiver group is amazing. No matter how young they are, they have become a close and high-caliber team. The Titans are already off to a great start with a 28-14 win last week against Reed-Custer. Wide receivers Cha’von and Jayvion Maxon both had 2 touchdowns to seal the win. Quarterback Owen Adams threw for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns. Come out to watch the football team take on archrival Fieldcrest this Friday at 7:00 pm.
