Meet Kendyl Joy Cain, a talented and vibrant senior who brings creativity, energy, and heart to everything she does! Whether she’s on stage performing, creating beautiful artwork, or simply enjoying her favorite movies, Kendyl is someone who shines in many ways.
Kendyl is a performer at heart. She has been a part of the EPGHS show choir since her sophomore year. She is a part of both Modulations and Hi-Fidelity. This year, she was selected as dance captain for Modulations, a dream of hers since eighth grade. “The seniors made it so welcoming as an underclassman. We won many competitions and were crowned the ‘Giant Slayers.’ That’s when people really started to notice EPGHS.” Being a part of the show choir has given her some unforgettable memories that she’ll carry with her outside of high school.
In addition to performing, she enjoys painting and drawing in her free time, especially in Mrs. Cordell’s art class, which she said is one of her favorite classes. Her other hobbies include sleeping, watching movies, and of course, singing and dancing. After graduating, Kendyl is looking to study forensic science and is considering going to Illinois State University. After college, she plans to move to Memphis, Tennessee to start her career in this field.
Kendyl has many favorite teachers but has a hard time choosing between Mr.Shaffer, Mr.Crump, Mrs. Charlier, and Mrs. Cordell. “I can’t choose between them; they’re all my favorites.” She has a few people who have inspired her, the first being Haylee Barnard. Haylee inspired her in the show choir to keep working hard, no matter what. Her next inspiration not relating to school is Adam Sandler. “He’s just the bomb.” She finds Adam Sandler to be extremely funny and loves his sense of style.
The funniest thing that Kendyl has seen in her high school years happened to Mr. Natsis. During a game of musical chairs, someone pulled his chair out from under him, and he fell to the ground. The culprit was Hillary Gramm. Kendyl has many funny memories, but this one tops them all!
Some advice that she has for upcoming seniors and all students is, “Get all your homework done, the earlier the better.” She also said, “You don’t need to listen to what other people say.” She explained that as you get to junior and senior year, the classes and events can be stressful, hard to handle, and involve drama, but “Don’t let other people bring you down.” With creativity, leadership, and a positive outlook, Kendyl is finishing her senior year off strong and is on her way to achieving her dreams!
