After last year’s season ending with the girls winning 4th place in State, the school is excited to see how this year’s volleyball team does and if they can live up to last year’s accomplishments.
Senior and Maryville University-commit Taylor Langland says that her goal is to win the conference this year. When I asked how she felt about the team, she explained, “We’re a younger team, and we have players that are willing to learn and grow throughout the season.” When asked if she was worried about how the team would play after losing several key players from last year, Langland replied, “I’m not worried, but excited. Everyone on the team has a close relationship and is willing to learn and try new things.”
Coach Hardwick is also optimistic: “I feel good about the season. We have seven returning varsity members from last year’s team.” Coach’s goal was the same as Langland’s, to win the conference, but she also said she wants to get as far as they can in the postseason. Coach Hardwick continued, “Our girls are close and work hard during practice.” Hardwick also stated that she challenges the girls during practice. All in all, the season has started well, with a 7-2 record as of this writing. The girls also placed third in last weekend’s Pontiac Tournament. Best of luck, volleyball girls!
