The 2025 season has been historic for the EPG Titans. For the first time, they’ve achieved a 10-0 record and won the conference title outright. In addition, they broke through the first round of the playoffs for the first time in eight years.
They opened the playoffs last Saturday with a commanding 43-20 victory over the Chicago Marshall Commandos. Head coach Tanner Benedict ascribed the team’s success to the fact that they are really talented, hardworking, and selfless. Quarterback Owen Adams has also made history, setting new EPG records for passing yards and touchdowns in a single season. The Titans are known for their fast-paced style of play, combining a high-powered offense with a reliable defense.
Ranked as the #2 seed, EPG will face the #7-seeded Newman Central Catholic Comets, who have a record of 8-2. “Having a home playoff game is a special feeling,” Coach asserted. He acknowledged the increasing difficulty of each playoff round, which he believes adds to the excitement and significance of the postseason. “A lot of effort by coaches and players goes into a football season that is oftentimes unseen by people on the outside. I hope the players take a ton of pride knowing how much work it takes to get to this point.”
Reflecting on the season, Coach shared, “I’ve always had the goal of us winning a conference title, so to be able to do that this year and go undefeated felt great. My most important goal for our team is to embrace going 1-0 each week.” Looking ahead, Benedict emphasizes the need for the offense to sustain longer drives and adjust to tougher defenses, acknowledging that big plays won’t always be available. “Sometimes, executing plays for 4-5 yards is what it takes to move the ball on a team.” Staying focused and disciplined will be crucial as the Titans prepare to host Newman. Game time is 5:00 Saturday night. Go Titans!!!
