This NBA season is already off to a hot start. The first game of the year consisted of the Houston Rockets and Kevin Durant against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in an instant classic. The game ended with a score of 125-124, the Thunder winning in a close overtime thriller. Alperen Sengun had an amazing 39 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Thunder and Shai, who had 35 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.
After this game, the season was and still has been filled with many surprises, such as the Chicago Bulls starting 5-0 and somehow ending up 6-6 at the time I am writing this. Along with this surprise is the huge jump Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey took this year, going from averaging 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists to averaging 21.9 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 9.7 assists this year. However, Giddy missed a few games with an ankle injury, and the team nose-dived.
Something I feel I must include in an NBA article is the MVP candidates and how they are doing. This year, it is generally believed to be between Nikola Jokic, who is averaging 28.7 points, 13 rebounds, and 10.9 assists, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is averaging 32.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and only 1.6 turnovers per game. Personally, I believe that Jalen Brunson is the best player in the league, but based on the team’s level that he leads, I believe that it will probably be Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. To close, I will discuss my prediction for the NBA Finals. I believe that the New York Knicks, led by Jalen Brunson, will play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Finals. It will be a 6-game series where the Thunder come out on top 4-2.
