Israel Nowark, a man who needs no introduction. Israel is a very controversial member of EPGHS, but also a popular one. Don’t ask for any of his controversial opinions. He’s been an important part of the Class of 2026 since 4th grade. How Israel has made it to senior year is a question that most are asking, but he made it nonetheless. With 4 younger siblings and 2 younger step-siblings, 4 of whom are in high school, it couldn’t have been easy. According to him, he draws inspiration from Jesus Christ and couldn’t have gotten this far without him.
Israel Nowark has been a 4-year member of both Track and Field and Cross Country. At 6 foot 3, his giant strides overtake most smaller athletes in distance events. Interestingly, Israel breaks a huge stereotype: tall people are great at basketball. Israel proves this harmful stereotype wrong by being unable to shoot or even touch the rim. He is, however, very good at running. As a sophomore, he made it to State in the mile for Track and competed well at Cross Country State Finals. As a Junior, he proved his versatility by posting impressive times in the quarter-mile dash and the half-mile dash. This senior year, we should expect a few school records coming from this beast, as long as he doesn’t get distracted by Clash Royale (even though he only has like 400 trophies and loses ALL the time).
Israel is not yet committed to a college, but has expressed interest in going to a 4-year university to study Physics or Engineering. In his free time, Israel enjoys snowboarding, airsoft, and scrolling Instagram reels. He also enjoys scrolling reels outside of his free time.
His favorite food is Rocky Mountain Oysters– “as fresh as possible,” according to him. His favorite singer and celebrity crush is Shakira, and his favorite color is blue. His favorite quote is “Sherman, we need to get you out of here before you touch yourself,” from the movie Mr. Peabody and Sherman.
When asked about his favorite memory, he replied, “Sophomore year track sectionals.” In that competition, the boys team won sectionals, Israel advanced to state, and one crazy sophomore even ran 16 miles straight!
Israel really is a unique individual, but one who is beloved across grades. Whether it’s dominating distance races or disproving basketball stereotypes, Israel Nowark will certainly not be forgotten anytime soon.
