Addison Baker is currently a senior at El Paso-Gridley. She is the lead captain of the current Colorguard team and Winter guard, and she plays saxophone in the show choir combo. She feels she has truly found who she is throughout her time in high school. “I got more confident in myself, in who I am. It’s been fun finding myself.”
“My favorite classes have been my science classes, but dual credit English is a good second,” Addison says. She plans on majoring in meteorology and atmospheric sciences at Purdue, West Lafayette. For a career, she is considering a job predicting the weather or being out in the field, chasing and photographing storms. One thing you may not know about Addison is that she loves cleaning and organizing. She says that it’s very therapeutic for her.
Her favorite memory of high school was when the marching band won first place and grand champions at one of their competitions, and they were escorted into town by police. Many cars were out that night honking our marching band into town.
Some advice Addison has is for students to, “Be yourself, and care for all your classes. When I was a freshman, I didn’t consider my grades. That has affected my GPA, and as I’m applying for colleges, it matters.” She believes that everyone should just be themselves because they only have these four years.
While Addison has enjoyed her time as a high school student, she says, “I think I’m going to blossom as a person after I graduate. I feel I will truly find who I am after high school. But, I’ll still miss high school and miss the people and activities at EPG.”
